Tonight we made our first gingerbread house as a family. T was participating from the highchair. Turned out pretty good.

Christmas Program

Today was W's Christmas program at school. He walked in with his class and sat down. He made sure everyone knew who his mommy and daddy were. He was pointing and waving smiling big. However, he was in his own little world up on stage but I must say he did just as good as any other boy up there. The girls on each side of W took the stage. The one on the right cracked me up yelling. I thought she was going to smack W with some of the moves on a few songs. Here's a couple for you to enjoy.

Christmas Treats

These are the treats I did for W's preschool class. I got this idea from another friends blog, Brooke. I modified it for Christmas and they turned out so cute. This is an EASY, CHEAP treat for all your kids' classmates. They are Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes. All I did was add a stick and a bow. Thanks for the idea Brooke!

More on the Big Blizzard of '08

It snowed steadily till about noon today. I would guess we got about an inch. Too bad it won't stick around. W drove his dumptruck around the yard yelling "here comes the snow plow!" You can tell he didn't grow up here.

Don't let this smile on T's face fool you....he didn't like the snow very much at all. He's growing up to be a warm weather kind of guy.

Snowin' in the Big Easy!

Yes, it's true! It actually snowed today. I have only heard people around here say "well there was that snow back in '89" Guess our move here brought the snow. Today I feel like I'm back in Louisville. Of course all the schools are closed (yes, I'm laughing too but these people don't know how to drive in light snowflakes that don't stick) To say the least, we are staying inside today and enjoying the snow - we may not see anymore again the whole time we live here. Here are a couple of pics for proof. I thought the picture of the snow and palm trees showed just how much of an oxymoron this is.

Thanksgiving Treats

I made Indian Corn treats for W's class at school. They turned out so cute! I found the idea in a good friend's (Melissa) mom's recipe book. Basically they are rice krispie treats with candy corn, choc. chips and peanut butter chips mixed in. Then, you shape into a corn cob and put a stick in it. They didn't look so hot at first but then when you add the presentation part with the paper and ribbon, they turn out really cute. And, honestly, what kid wouldn't want to eat something off a stick! Thanks Mrs. Adams for the idea!

Frosty Mania

The boys received Free Frosty coupons from someone on Halloween, so tonight we decided to go for our tasty treat. After giving T a few bites , we realized that surprisingly enough he had never really had ice cream until tonight. We created a frosty monster! He was rubbing his hand in the please motion like crazy. After each bite he would shake his head (we think he as having a brain freeze). He would just laugh like crazy and then beg for more. What fun!

Family Picnic Day

Today was family picnic day at W's school. S took the day off to join the fun. We had to have the picnic inside the fellowship hall due to the ground being wet outside. It was fun to meet some of W's friends he comes home talking about.
W and I spent the afternoon making our craft - a turkey with feathers to represent what he is thankful for. This craft was shown in Parents magazine and I just thought it was too cute. So W told me everything he was thankful for and we wrote on the feathers or printed a picture from the computer and let him glue. S gets credit for the turkey's feet.

Our friend Jack

W has a new little friend in the neighborhood. His name is Jack and his family lives just around the corner. We have been playing with him and his little bro Ben (who is a few months older than Tyler). All of them get along great. We went over to Jack's house to trick or treat and decided to all go around together. Those two boys were too cute! AFter the first house they had it down and were running to each house. Jack's mom took this pic - it looks like they've already had a bowl full of candy! W was so hyped up last night it took forever for him to go to sleep. In fact, I think S and I fell asleep before him.

On a side note: I gave into peer-pressure and changed my background. Everyone was doing it!

Happy Halloween!

Obviously W was not into carving pumpkins this year. Great face don't ya think? He said it was "nasty" and didn't like the smell. After correcting the word "nasty", we let Shea finish the rest.

Our "Not-So-Scary" Cowboy and Scarecrow

A little preview for what's to come on Friday. We dressed up early to go to the Monster Mash today (see post below). So I thought it would be a good day to try to take some pictures. Not so easy getting them both to pose for a good picture. W was so excited to finally get to wear his cowboy costume with his boots. I've only allowed him to play in his boots at home. He was so concerned a couple of weeks ago. He told me he needed a rope for his cowboy costume. He told me "I need it to catch them girls!". I thought "did he just say what I thought he said?" Anyway, thanks to Papaw Pessel, W's wish came true. Dad found an old rope just his size out in the barn and mailed it to us. W opened the package and exclaimed "My rope....now I can catch them girls!"

Monster Mash

One of the local parks held its annual Monster Mash today. It was a great setup but very crowded. There was tons of stuff for kids - carnival games, face painting, bouncies. singing pirates and a "trick or treat village. W had fun but all we heard of him the rest of the day was "can I have some candy". T thought the singing pirate and a balloon were the best part.

Pickin' Pumpkins

Our little trip to pick out the perfect pumpkin. W insisted on wearing his cowboy boots! It was a little hard to get into the pumpkin pickin' mood when it's warm and there are palm trees at the pumpkin patch.

Fun with Dump Trucks

Ahhh....finally some cooler weather to play outdoors. Oh how we have missed it. Now that T is up and walking around we spend many afternoons out there burning off some of that little boy energy. I certainly miss the autumn months in Louisville. There's nothing compared to it and I think about it a lot lately.

Weekend with Nana and Pop

This weekend Nana and Papa Jones came for a visit. We decided to celebrate T's bday with a trip to the zoo. Both boys had a great time (as well as everyone else). They were such troopers for such a long day.

Lil' Slugger

We are currently in a little baseball program for toddlers. W doesn't like it. He likes to play baseball, he just doesn't like this program very much. He wants to play soccer again. Every week he asks if we are going to soccer. We will definitely go back to soccer next go round. This program doesn't have as much action - it's more waiting and that's not good for 3 yr olds. It's funny watching all those boys in the 'dugout' while waiting their turn. They are so antsy and figidity! W has great form while hitting the ball off the tee. Take a look....

Happy 1st Birthday!

Hard to believe a year has past since T was born! Today we had our best bud, Mason, and his big sis, Julia, over for cake and ice cream. T walked around the whole time arrogantly knowing all the attention was on him. We had a music party b/c T loves music.
