Our Trip to the Zoo

After a month of living here, W finally got to cross the "BIG" bridge as we made our way into New Orleans Saturday to spend the day at the zoo. He was so excited to drive over the bridge that Daddy drives over to go to work. Our trip to the zoo was great. It wasn't too hot and the kids did great. W had a blast and did the whole trip on foot (no riding in the stroller for him). He had a blast running around looking at all the animals. I think his Daddy had just as much fun or more. The zoo is really really good - larger & better than Louisville's (and much flatter to walk!). It's layout and exhibits were neat and had a lot of interactive things for kids. It was separated into continents and the animals that inhabit them. Hope you enjoy the pics from our family day out.

Where else can you find palm trees and elephants?!

W riding the carousel. He specifically picked out the gorilla. Guess the nightmare about gorillas the other night after 5 min of King Kong didn't affect him too much.

More from the Zoo

OOOh-AAAh! Me Gorilla

"Take my picture" is what we heard when he stood in front of the Tucan

The sea lions were a hit. W liked watching them swim around the come up and play

Even T got in on the action

Look at me!

Thought you might like to know what T is up to these days. As you can tell from the photos, he is growing up fast - 7 months now. He is standing up with a prop and is in the beginning stages of crawling. He will get up on all fours and rock back and forth. Yesterday he started scooting across the floor (mostly backward). He is still one of the happiest babies I've ever seen. However, I don't know if I'm ready to chase after a little one again. Ready or not, I don't think it will be long.

Soccer Pro

Wouldn't you know....as soon as I got my computer back I had about 15 min of the internet and then our service went out. I think maybe that was God's way of saying I didn't really need to be online?! As promised, here are some pictures of W at SoccerTots. The week I took these, they were fish. W is doing pretty good now and doesn't run over to me every second he gets to get some water. He stayed out there the whole time last week. However, we need to work on following instructions. He isn't very aggressive and when coach tells them to get a ball, he just lets all the other kids get them and then he doesn't have one. I got some great video but I don't have my cable to upload it so the pictures will have to do for now.
Coach had a bubble machine and all the little "fishies" were supposed to kick the bubbles. Needless to say most ran after them and tried to catch them.

All the "fishies" were supposed to hit the shark as it swam past them.

The fish were supposed to jump over the foam things. Isn't that girl to the left of him the cutest you've ever seen!! Her name is Clara. My new friend is the girl on the right in green.

I feel so LOST!

As if I were not lonely enough, our computer died. It's my source to the outside world and now it's no longer available. URGHHH! We had to send our laptop out to hopefully get fixed. I hope it doesn't take long b/c I am so tremendously lost without it. I am in the apt's business center typing this on their very slow computer. So, for all of you who like to keep up with my life, it will be another week or more before I can post anything new. Keep posting and I will catch up with all of you as soon as I can!

And the winner is....

Here's a pic of our new house. Our offer was accepted today. It was actually our second choice but I think we will love it more than the first one. We really liked the neighborhood (better than the first house) and that's what bumped this one up. That and the fact that is was meant for us. There was an offer that was accepted on it last week and it fell through. Bad thing is that it won't be till mid-May when we can close. The owners wanted their kids to finish school before moving. We being the kind people we are, accepted their date but it made a difference in our price. All in all it worked out. Now if I could just find a way to keep a 3 year old from making noise another month in this apt. Any ideas? :) My downstairs neighbor has already come up and complained. Gotta love apartment life with kids.

Another Awesome Park

Today we tried out the other park my realtor told us about. It was awesome...I've never seen anything quite like it. The bad part was it was covered over by school kids on a field trip. So, I decided we would go ahead and eat our picnic lunch and by the time we had finished, the kids were leaving for their picnic. So, we played until they came back. W had a good time - they had cool pirate ships and rockets on this thing. It's definitely a must to go back again. Poor T, he just has to go along for the ride, but he's a good sport and likes to watch his brother in action.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get pictures from yesterday's soccer class. Hopefully next week. I had to participate in a lot of it b/c W was a little hesitant at first. The whole thing was pretty funny. They have themes each week and this week was dinosaur week. The ball was a dinosaur egg and the goal was the dinosaur cave (you get the picture -everything revolved around dinosaurs. Next week is aliens. Interesting. W did pretty good but he only had the attention span for a few minutes and then he would run over to me or go off and do something on his own. He wasn't the only one though. This will be good for him especially on the subject of listening and following instructions. He really seemed to like it. One thing is for certain....it wore him out! That little boy ran a full gym probably 10-12 times. Tuesdays will be great nap days!!

Playin' at the Park

Our first week in Mandeville went well. It was long due to Shea's long work days, but me and the boys found plenty to do. Below are some pictures from the awesome playground my realtor told me about. It was a gorgeous afternoon so Shea and I took the boys to play. W was climbing up on everything and mastered just about all of the playground equipment. Funny story: W had to pee and started grabbing himself, so Shea and I started saying "hold it". He kept grabbing himself while he and I ran to the restroom. Some ladies sitting on a bench cheered him on as he raced past them in a mad dash to the bathroom. Good news....we made it!

House hunting has gone well. We found a few we like and might make an offer on one soon. W is going to start soccer this week. They have a program for toddlers. It ought to be hilarious. Hopefully I will be able to get some pictures and I will post them. We are also going to visit W's school ,where he will start in fall, and take a look around. We're trying to stay busy so the boys don't get too bored in the apt with limited toys. I can't wait for W to make some friends. Today at lunch he told me and Shea that all his friends were gone. We asked him where they went and he said "they're back home at old house". I teared up. Maybe soccer will bring some playmates to our future!

Breakfast - New Orleans Style

We initiated New Orleans with beignets at Cafe Du Monde. W had a good time and thought the powdered sugar was so much fun to blow around the place. Sugar and chocolate milk made for quite the sugar high and we definitely experienced the after affects. W is adjusting pretty good. I think he misses his friends and needs some kid interaction. He has two imaginary friends and their names are Elle and Tori (his buds back in Louisville). They go everywhere with us and we always let them in the van first - such the gentleman.

As far as us.....I just think it's pretty stinkin' hot down here. Quite muggy! Maybe it's something I will adjust and it will become normal. I just can't believe I'm thinking about going to the pool at the beginning of April! Shea's first two days at work have gone well. House hunting begins tomorrow with me and the boys. The apartment isn't too bad - much better than the one in Memphis. But, I think it will be better for the boys once we have all our stuff in a house. Stay tuned....there will be more to come. I'm FINALLY online again!
