Halloween Fun

Halloween has been one busy weekend. Here's highlights of our Halloween festivities.

Never fear - Iron Man is here
Our "package man"
Our little Tiger
We did some "trunk or treating" at our church Sat night.

And trick or treating in our neighborhood. We walked around with our buddy, Connor and Chase. We were surprised at how many people participated in our neighborhood. Great time!

Spook-tacular Breakfast Party

On Saturday we hosted a "Spook-tacular Breakfast" for all the kids that live around us in the neighborhood. We had quite the turnout. Now, before you think I'm such a creative person, I will tell you now that I got this idea off Gourmet Mom on the Go Blog. (I think her blog is becoming one of my favorites!) All the kids came in costume and we played games, decorated pumpkin cookies, and of course ate our spooky breakfast. I was entertaining kids so much and S was keeping up with C, we didn't get too many pictures. The kids seemed to have had a blast and it was a great way to get to know all the neighbors! Maybe we'll make this a tradition?

Here's the invitation (I got the idea off Parents.com)
The table all set:
Here was the menu:
Cocoa Puffs as "Bat Droppings"
Trix as "Frog Eggs"
Honeycomb as "Sticky Spider Webs"
Lucky Charms as "Bone Pieces"
Berry Kix as "Mysterious Eyeballs"
Marshmallows as "Ghost Drops"
The kids got to mix their own brew in hopes that they wouldn't turn into a frog!

The Adult Food:
Most of the kids mixing their brew
Some more of our friends. Elliot (Mr. Incredible) is a buddy W rides with on the bus and is in same kindergarten class.

T's Class Field Trip

Today T's class had his class field trip to the pumpkin patch. It was such a cute place. The patch had a gorgeous view of the mountains. However when I got there my camera battery was dead so all these were taken with my phone. It was so cute to see T interact with his friends from school (what little he did). Of course, the other two tagged along for the event. Fun was had by all!
Look at that view - on a clear day it would have been beautifulHere's mine!
T with his school buddies learning about apples

What a cutie!
Jumpin with friends on the gigantic jumping bean
Apparently this is what happens when you have too much fun on a class field trip

Shenandoah Valley

This weekend's adventure....
We took a "family field trip" to Shenandoah Valley to see all the fall foliage. This 100 mile park (we only did a third of it) is beautiful! There are some amazing views and the trees were just starting the turn. The only drawback was the cool weather. The wind was blowing so much, it made for a rather chilly day. We didn't do any hiking as we had planned but did get out and explore a little. Definitely one to go back to next year.
Stopping at one of the many overlooks
This was what we saw as we drove through the park!
Our "cold" picnic!
Show me your twig!
Having some fun exploring the woods...

Luray Caverns

After our drive through Shenandoah Valley, we made our way over to Luray Caverns. It's a National Landmark. It was a huge cave with some pretty cool stalagmites and stalactites!
Look at how cool! Unfortunately for the boys, no bats or bears.
"Yeah, I liked the cave too on my Daddy's back!"

Pumpkin Farm

Today, S took the day off and we enjoyed a family day at one of the many pumpkin farms in this area. It was a lot of fun and we successfully wore out all three of our boys. They all fell asleep on the way home! The farm was complete with a corn maze, hayride, fresh apple cider and all the things that make pumpkin farms so much fun!

11 Months

C is now 11 months!
Here's what's happening:
  • You have 3 teeth and all the rest are just right under the gum line. You look like an ol' snaggle tooth hillbilly when you smile
  • You have done away with bottles and gone straight to sippy cups.
  • You are fascinated with the toilet!
  • You love to climb the stairs (especially when no one is looking)
