Easter Pictures

There was no White House Easter Egg Roll for us (we did enter the raffle but alas we were not chosen) but we had a great Easter with our little family. Enjoy the photos.

Resurrection Eggs - Homemade version

THis week I happened to stumble upon an article I had saved from an old MOPS publication. You can find it here. I had completely forgotten about it. It was how to tell the resurrection story with your preschoolers using eggs and things inside them to represent parts of the story. There is a retail version you can buy of these resurrection eggs, but this was how to do a spontaneous, free, home version of the story. It was a rainy afternoon, so I decided to give it a try with my boys. They really liked it. I made each a set (only to be fair) and then hid them around the house. Each was able to find only 6 eggs. After the hunt, we looked at the numbers on our eggs and if one had duplicate numbers, we swapped with the other. It worked great and they loved opening each one to find out what was inside. May make this a tradition because our kids need to know there is more to Easter than chocolate bunnies and eggs! They need to know why Easter is such a celebration!

Here are my eggs. I couldn't find a thorn so I just printed a picture of one and we talked about how a thorn feels. T was quick to tell me that someone on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse had a thorn in their paw and they had to use tweezers to get it out. HA!

We're Riding A Bike! and Other Random Videos

Today my big boy turned into an even bigger boy. He finally learned to ride his bike. We've been practicing for a few weeks on the little bike but yesterday we started with his bigger bike. Today, he took off with no help and now I can't get him off! This first video is of him learning to start off and practicing on the bike trail near our house.

This second video is after he got the hang of it, he and his friend started riding around our square of townhouses. Perfect bike riding area!

Here's T singing his latest hit "Playing on the Playground"

Here's C on the playground. I have no idea what he's saying before he goes down the slide. It sounds like he's counting to 10 in Korean (learned from W). And just look at his sneaky face looking at me the whole time!

Roof Top Garden (okay not quite)

This weekend, S and the boys planted our little garden. It's more of a science experiment really. We decided to use our deck off our Master Bedroom and make it our "roof top garden". The boys and I made little plant markers to make sure we knew what was what. They turned out really cute. We just used foam and cut out shapes of our veggies. I figured the foam could withstand the sun and rain (we'll see).
Here's our little planters showing off their super-power work gloves.
T planting some peas
W planting some broccoli - his favorite veggie (really)
Just thought this shot was funny - blonde heads
Our little roof-top garden. I'll keep you posted with any results!
On another note, I had a little project of my own the past few weeks. My neighbor was wanting to get rid of this old secretary desk of her parents. She sold it to me for $25. I bought it and painted it black and put on new hardware. The final result turned out pretty good!

Spring, Where Are You??

Spring has definitely not sprung here. It's just teased us. We will have one wonderful beautiful spring day followed by days of cold and rain. My bones need sunshine and warmth! I'm ready for capris and flip flops! I guess I was just used to LA weather where we skipped spring and went right into summer. HA! Many have asked me if I've been able to see the well-known cherry blossoms in DC. That would be a NO. The past two Sat have been cold and rainy therefore no trips into DC for us. Tomorrow is looking the same. I guess we will have to wait till next year b/c I doubt the blooms will still be on the trees in another week. However, there are three, what we think are, baby cherry blossoms right outside my deck. Here's what I get to look at. They are so pretty.

We had a beautiful day yesterday. So, I took the camera outside and took a lot of photos of C. He's growing so fast and I feel like I haven't taken as many pics of him lately. I know the grandparents will be happy with the rest of this post! HA! Here's my mighty warrior protecting his own with the other big boys with swords.
All set mom!
Here's my monkey! He climbs all the way to the top. My first one to be somewhat fearless. I don't know if I can handle that! He LOVES the playground. Anytime we are outside he runs to it and when I don't want him to, he tries to sneak there anyway.
