Southern Utah Trip

This past week the boys had a couple of days off school, so we planned a trip to see Utah.  Our trip included a day at Mt Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and exploring an area called Duck Creek.  We had a lot of fun exploring everyday.  I will try to capture our trip in this short post but I will just say that if you ever have the chance to visit Bryce Canyon - it is a must.  It was so nice to get away from it all and be in the mountains away from desert life!

First stop on our way up to our cabin was Mt. Zion.  We didn't explore the whole park but did get our taste of fall and fall colors on a little hike halfway up the park.

 After Mt. Zion, we started our drive to our cabin.  This is what we had to drive through.  A mile long tunnel through the mountain! It was built in the 30s to get from one side to the other.    It even had windows carved out. Made you wonder how safe you were if they built this road so close to the edge of the mountain.  Hmmmm.

Next up Bryce Canyon.

Words cannot express how beautiful this place is.  Pictures don't do it justice.

 We decided to do a 1.2 mile hike down one of the canyons.  It was a really fun hike and surprisingly everyone made it the entire way!  Here is our descent down the canyon (yep we went right through that dark hole at the bottom.

On our way back up we passed what is called "Thor's Hammer".  The rock at the top resembles it so therefore that's why it's called that.  Here we are giving our best superhero poses....

Our last day we stayed around Duck Creek and went on a few hikes.  We drove up to Cedar Break which is the highest point in the area.  Here we saw more amazing views and some snow on the caps.

 Then we took more hikes through the woods.

By the end of the day, little bit was worn out!  Poor thing....he was quite the trooper on the whole trip and all the hikes.

That night we Trunk or Treated at the little village.  It was so fun and surprisingly full of people!  Then we went up to my neighbor's cabin and celebrated her son's birthday.  

 Overall a wonderful trip.  Full of memories and fun!
