Girls' Weekend

This weekend four of my closest college friends came down for a most needed girls' weekend. There is a group of seven of us, however two of them were unable to attend. After college, we met up every other year, but once we all started having kids that plan got a little complicated. It has been 5 years since most of us have seen each other. We can't believe it's been 10 yrs since we graduated from OBU. I really didn't see how any of us had changed besides hairstyles and clothing. JC still laughed all the time. Patti still lived life to the fullest. Leigh was still sensible and responsible. Mundy (her name is Kim but she and I go by our maiden last names to prevent confusion) was still game for anything and never lost her sense of direction. We had a great time reminiscing old times and catching up on who knows who did what. And guess what...those crayons won again! Yes, we ended the last night watching the never tiring episode of Tiger Tunes 1997 where the Tri Chi crayons stole the show. Ouachita gave me more than an education, it gave me life-long friends whom I will always care about.

Then:
(for those of you reading this who did not attend Ouachita - no we are not x-rated porn stars. Our club was Tri Chi therefore three x's in greek letters)

Global Wildlife Center

This past weekend, Nana and PaPa Jones were in town with cousin Austin. We decided to go to this wildlife center near Mandeville. It was really a fun experience. They put you in these covered wagons and ride around the land while the animals come up to the wagons and eat out of your hand! They had tons of deer, llamas, giraffes, zebras, longhorns, buffalo just to name a few. W & T had a great time and so did their dad! Below you can get a glimpse as to what we experienced. I would definitely go back.

First Teeth and Swim Lessons

T got his first tooth(s) this past weekend. He's an overachiever and is trying for all 8 at the same time. He managed to break through two within two days and all the top ones are right under the gums. Poor thing, his mouth looks so swollen. Hopefully you can blow up the picture and see the teeth. I don't know why it uploaded it upside down but I tried several times. Oh well. On another note: W started swim lessons this week. It did not start out on a good note. He kicked and screamed the first day. I mean he was MAD! I wish I would've had him in lessons last year when he was fearless. However, he seemed to turn it around the next day and by Thurs he was happy to do whatever the teacher told him. Everyday we talked about it and what we could do to be more brave. Plus it never hurt to bribe him with candy when he did a good job each day. :) He still won't get on the kickboard but he will go under the water. We have all next week to go.

Happy Birthday!

W celebrated his 3rd birthday today. He had a couple of friends over for his car themed birthday. Here are a few snapshots.

The menu: Hot dogs that were created into race cars, mac n cheese with wheel noodles and watermelon (sorry - no car theme there)

Oh, by the way, they played in the backyard with the pool and sprinklers so that is why W has his shirt off in most of these photos.

New Friends

We had our first playdate today. We had Connor and Grant over to play. These are some friends we met through soccer. Connor is a few months older than W and Grant is a few months older than T. Let's just say it was one wild time. I think it took us half an hour just to get lunch ready. Between two toddlers running crazy and two crawling and getting into things it was hard to concentrate. However, the moms found time to chat and get to know one another. Oh and by the way, W got his summer haircut two days ago....it turned out cute I think. He looks grown up.

On another note, today is Daisy's 5th birthday! Happy Birthday Daisy!

Home Sweet Home

I cannot express how happy I am to finally be in our new house! It was quite an experience with the movers. I, being a control freak, was overwhelmed by the fact that once all the boxes were unloaded from the truck ,the movers started to unpack them. Stuff was everywhere! My parents came down to watch the boys (thank goodness) and I wish they could've stayed a few more days. There are still rooms where piles of stuff lie around. One day it will be a nice organized house.
The boys are adjusting well. I think T is just happy to finally have a real bed to sleep in. He has slept in that pack-n-play for probably half his life. He is also happy to have lots of open space to crawl around. He is a speedster now and is also pulling up on everything he can. W was happy to finally get his bunk beds back. We've been having some real issues with W and his attitude and potty training. He is pitching one fit after another and peeing all over himself. The pee is definitely a behavior issue b/c the boy knows how to go to the potty. However, our routine got back to normal yesterday with S going back to work so I think that will help. We've also been away from any kids W's age since the move to our house. Soccer is out for a couple of weeks and we haven't been to church in a few weeks. That will all change soon. We are having a playdate this week and gearing up for a birthday party next week. We have invited two little friends of his from soccer. I'm glad we felt comfortable enough to have someone over - he remembers so much about his birthday last year.
Hopefully my posts will become a little more regular now. It's just been a hectic two weeks....but a happy kind of hectic!
