Last weekend we took a spontaneous trip about an hour north of the city. Out in the middle of nowhere desert, there is a little nonprofit zoo run by veterinarians. They are rarely open to the public but you can go for private tours. My neighbor had a friend gathering up a group and she invited us to go since they had space. So glad we took the opportunity. This place was great and the kids really got all hands on time with the animals.
The guide had the lemur out to show the kids and he started jumping onto people in the group. He made his way to S's shoulder. Priceless!
I even got the opportunity to hold a baby kangaroo. So cute!!!
Ok, enough about how much fun the adults had, here's some shots of the kiddos. ha!
T didn't touch much at first but started to warm up after awhile. Here he is with the turtle (which he almost dropped!).
C was all about the animals - he couldn't wait to touch each of them. Telling ya - not afraid of anything!
This big ol' lizard was named "Darth Vader". You could tell T wanted to touch it but was scared. He finally made his way to him but was holding onto C the whole time. Too funny.
This whole place was right up W's alley. He loves animals and all the facts associated with them. You could catch him at times telling one of the adults some random fact about one of the animals. The boy has a photographic memory when reading!

And last but not least, we got to see the kangaroos. They had a ton - one being over 6 ft tall. Overall great place to visit.....just wish we could have gone in spring or fall - it was HOT!
